Are there specific rules that apply to Civil Service employees regarding criminal activities of relatives?  What did your dismissal letter say?
Not generally. I'm guessing the OP is immigration/customs or similar so has police-like powers so held to their standard

This, or it could have a huge impact if their job role requires them to be vetted for security clearance. I suspect that the fact that it has happened in the grounds of the OP's home makes it an even bigger issue.

OP said he wasn't happy with the union involved. That sounds to me like proper procedures have been followed. Unions don't have magic wands or want to waste members' money on legal representation if the relevant steps have been taken to this point.

Unions can be a mixed bag from fabulous to chocolate teapot so we don't have enough info to conclude.

If the OP wants anything useful they need to do a proper writeup, anonymised but with the information.

Dependant on which branch of the CS, this may be true.

It can be read that the OP allowed a criminal activity to take place at their home and thus could cease to be of the calibre required to carry out their official duties. If this was the case then dismissal may well be fair (even if it appears the opposite.

Regarding union assistance, I suspect the union realise the OP was in the wrong and dismissal was not unfair or unreasonable so cannot help.
