Integrated Dishwasher

Is it possible to install a 45cm integrated dishwasher into a 60cm space.  While I appreciate the dimensions are ok, what about the door fitting, ie asssuming the integrated door is also 45cm (or slightly larger), how do you fill the gap around the dishwasher?

  • I am by no means an expert but I don't see why not with something like this? https://www.diy.com/departments/goodhome-caraway-white-base-unit-w-150mm/3663602637394_BQ.prd

In theory you could but not sure why you would want to? If you really want a 45cm dishwasher, how about filling the 15cm void with a 15cm cabinet - you can get wine racks, spice racks, towel holders etc all in 15cm versions

You can get a 150mm cupboard like the one linked above. In principle you could put a 600mm door on it and just have an ugly 75mm gap down each side but the springs on the dishwasher door may not be able to counterbalance the wider door if its a heavier material.

You can also get filler panels so could get a 75mm one to put on each side and use a 450mm door where they are visible or a 600mm door where they are only visible with the door open.

We have a small filler panel next to our washing machine of about 50mm as clearly the previous owner thought the blank there was better and having the units start by the door than having the units start 50mm in from the door to the kitchen.

At 150mm I'd more likely opt to use the space with a cupboard.

We replaced a full size dishwasher with a slimline when we redid the kitchen, and now have a pull out under cabinet cupboard alongside it.

If you go for a slimline, a cutlery tray at the top is really essential to maximize the space for plates etc

45cm ones seem terribly restricted inside compared to 60. If it's a Integrated or semi integrated one you would inevitably have to cut and adapt the decor door panel, would require some level of skills.
  • I've only ever owned 45cm dishwashers, and find them a good size. Mind you, we have two of them. I prefer the ones with cutlery baskets as our cutlery drawers are away from the dishwasher so I like being able to take the whole thing to the drawers with me.
