Glad your cat came home and set your mind at rest.
Our first cat didn't mind the rain but he loved coming in shouting to be towel-dried only to head off out into it again 🙄 The wind however was another matter!2 -
I'm reluctant to let my cat out again after its wanderings - although it has been quite affectionate since its return.
My water refund came today of £22. I used an £8 credit note towards the blinds earlier too.
I will be returning one light to Am**** - the £15 one - it's much smaller than I envisaged but would be really pretty if it had been bigger. It would suit a small toilet rather than a hallway but even then I'd consider it tiny.
A different quote came through for the driveway today - close to £7K. I've had quotes between around £5.4 to 7.5K. I'm going to go with one at £5.5K where I liked the person. I will query something on the quote and give a better written description of the work as the lack of detail is worrying to someone like me - that will probably be a weekend task. The £5.5K quote one - comes with a 10 year guarantee in theory. They reckon its a 5-6 day job but would need about 3 working days notice but should be available reasonably quickly which sounds positive.
Next week I'll try and get some more screed quotes and ask the handyman for his advice.
I may try and get an early night tonight.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I got paid today - which means £450 extra got sent to my pension AVCs. Next month my pay will drop due to paying for unpaid leave. Soon after that I should be able to massively up my pension - as while I may not end up with my target 12 month EF in the short term it will still be substantial - and I will have done a lot of the house maintenance that I might otherwise have used it for.
The cat stayed in overnight. I let him back out this morning and it has just returned. I need to have a shower and get to work - but don't have to be there until 11 although sooner would be better. Unless I make some time up tomorrow - I'll probably have to book an extra half day off this week as I've been starting later and finishing early for me.
I'm still losing weight which feels novel. I need to lose around 35-40% of my weight before I'm at my personal long term target - so there are clear benefits to my reduced appetite. I set myself a goal of losing a stone or more a year between now and early retirement - and may get to a stone weight loss for this year by mid March or possibly earlier - so it's going well. I'd need to find my journal for the start of the year to check my starting weight. I am trying to eat more fruit on days when I'm otherwise struggling to eat. I've got veg soup at work - and there's also the possibility of the steak and chips outdoor van. Failing that I may eat out after this evening's counselling appointment.
Have a good day all.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well done on the weight loss!
Glad the cat seems to be settling in."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
Phew - thought I'd jinxed the cat for a minute there - glad he returned and came straight back this morning as well, the fact that he DID return suggests that he does now view the new place as home too which is good. Not surprising he wanted to be out a bit longer as there is lots of new territory to explore isn't there!
