Iceland anyone.....

We have been in Iceland for over a week. We were concerned about the volcano prior to travel because of the UK press.
In Iceland it barely makes the news and no one is talking about it or is worried about it.
Certainly the Blue Lagoon is closed and very sad for the people in the affected town. Apart from that everything is normal.
If you have a trip shortly then you can travel with confidence that you will enjoy it.

Thank you, we're off there in a couple of weeks and it's stressing my wife. I think we're jinxed as we landed at JFK in 2011 30 minutes before they closed it for hurricane Irene. We spent the Saturday locked in our hotel room but got to walk the city on Sunday when there was no public transport which was actually awesome.0

I went to Iceland in 2021 when there was also an active volcano eruption and they were running tourist buses up to see the lava. I think most residents just see volcanoes as 'one of these things' and have learned to live with it. From talking to one or two of the tour guides there I think as well there is a bit of acceptance that there isn't really anything that can be done - it's either not really a problem or a massive problem, thankfully it's generally the former but at some point it is probably going to be the latter.Troytempest said:We have been in Iceland for over a week. The likelihood of an eruption has dropped significantly. In any event, the type of eruption that would occur is unlikely to be an issue for you unless you were in the immediate area. You may miss out on a trip to the Blue Lagoon, but there are other, similar places you can bathe if desired. - https://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/news/2023/11/26/90_prosent_of_the_magma_tunnel_solidified/hollie.weimeraner said:Thank you, we're off there in a couple of weeks and it's stressing my wife.
