Probably !! I got a credit card from tesco finance a couple of years ago even though i wasn't working. I just had to put in our household salary. They didn't even ask for my partners details tho. I got a £7000 limit0

Some companies have particular criteria as well, but try not to be up-front with it.
In one of my old companies, we launched a new credit card that anyone could apply for, but you had to earn over £25k to be accepted (it was in the "eligibility wording" if anyone could be bothered to read through it).
And yes, it will play a part in the credit limit, alongside credit history and currently available credit.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
It can also be the case that they are testing to see if your application appears factually correct - often they will also ask job title and employers name - your salary should be a reasonable match to what they would expect someone in your position to receive0

There is a chance they *could* check, although not likely. I think it best to remain truthful about this sort of thing - if you were to fall into difficulties I'm pretty sure they'd be even less sympathetic if they found out you fibbed to them (on a legal document)0
