Credit file total confusion

Options
So im in the middle of the mortgage process and there is obviously been a lot of talk of credit files, i use checkmyfile so can see the entries for experian, equifax and trans-union.

I can see various accounts reported by different bureaus, but my main bank account, credit card and mobile phone contract are reported by all 3.

There is a notice of correction that was added by experian on my credit file that is a few years old and ive been recomended to have it removed. I emailed checkmyfile who said they would pass the message on to experian to remove. I then decided to pay for my experian file so that i could just speak to them directly.

Ive had the free experian account for years where you just get the vague score, and its in the good catagory, it was in the fair catagory up until last year when a CCJ dropped off.

Anyway ive paid for the full experian account and theres nothing there, no bank account reported, no mobile phone, it says im not on the electoral roll, theres no notice of correction.

Does anyone know what is going on? Ive checked and my address is right, name spelt the same etc

Where are checkmyfile getting their information from if theres nothing on there? How did my "score" increase when my CCJ dropped off if theres nothing in the file? ....What is going on?!

Thanks

  • Raise a query with Experian. It may be that none of your accounts are reporting to Experian, as they're all minor. Or it may be a glitch

Your score will increase and decrease for no reason, so don't worry about that.

You didn't need to do that.  You can contact them with any concerns about the data that they hold on you if you feel that it is incorrect.  You do not need to subscribe to their service in order to do this.
