right click on the avatar and save it somewhere memorable on you pc then goto "user cp" @ the top of this page then goto " edit avatar" then upload it from your pc ok?

I too would like to know where I can SAFELY download my own animated avatar.

Have looked at some of the websites given in one forum but they look a bit dubious. Loads of pop-up adds etc. Some of them charge.

Couldn't we start a thread or something where members can place avatars they are happy to share?

Im up for that as I have tried unsuccessfully to get an avatar and would like some step by step advice for the not so technical minded of us.

I would like a drink orientated one, prferably a glass of wine.....think ive seen one on here so any advice would be much appreciated.

but at least you managed to get smiley beer drinkers on your message at least - I dont know how you do that yet!! (stupid I know!!)

First of all for all info regarding the forums you need to go to This Site and sra's thread A-Z there you can find all sorts of info regarding avatars and posting on the forums, its excellent.

Please do remember if picking a flashing avatar that they can really irritate when viewing the forums and you may be asked to remove it.

As regards the smillies in your post, a quick lesson is go into your UserCP on the beige bar along the top, go to edit Options, where you can set all sorts of things but head down to the bottom and you'll find Message Editor Interface, change the forum default to Enhanced Interface and click save. Then you should find that when you go to reply you will have two rows of icons above the box you type in. There is a drop down menu beside the white smillie and there you can select whichever smillie you want to place in your message!
