I alternate between Simply Business and CETA (through compare landlord Insurance) depending on whose cheaper. Defo gone up - Last year every policy was approx £110 - for all the time you spend filling in form, locks, mining area, flat roof, number of bedrooms - they all cost the same.First one this year was about £140, managed to get 10% cash back by cheque - best deal I could negotiate. Next couple were around this, same deal 10% but only as cashback for some reason. Last one was £180 so a huge YOY increase. We've got 5 rentals, no claims made ever. You'd think some company would offer a decent multi policy rate.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Each insurer will have a different set of preferences and experiences so it depends on how homogeneous your portfolio of properties are...
If they are all almost identical then your likely better off getting a single policy covering the portfolio however its not impossible that its cheaper to insure them individually and becomes more likely the more diverse they are in terms of type, location etc.
Depending on how many properties you have it can either be a pain and you DIY it or you accept missing out on some options and hand it all over to a broker to figure out. It's normally somewhere between 5 and 10 properties when people decide DIY is too painful.1
