Back from my holiday - mince pies, milk and bread bought on the way home but all the food while I was away was holiday budget, so I might actually come under this month. £92.61 left.Fashion on the Ration 2025 - 1.5 coupons remaining

Did my last supermarket shop before Christmas. I have about £50 left to buy a few bits after Christmas so I may come in budget if I don't get seduced by offers. Also managed to stock up a bit with discounted meat so I should be ok for meat in January.

Shopped on Tuesday. Spent £51.93, including some treat bits for Christmas. Spent for the year, £1837.43/£1860. Left with £22.57. We are away from tomorrow until 28th. We will need milk after that but nothing else, I don't think. We should make it to the end of the year with spare money!
Hugs to all, and have a great Christmas, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.6 -
Since Tuesday I've spent £37.65. £19.44 was in Sainsbury's on general groceries, and household stuff that was on offer, £14.76 today at the market on eggs, chipolatas and some fancy cheese for over Christmas, and the rest on biscuits and ground coffee in Aldi. This leaves just under £31 for any other spending, which may only be veg and soft drinks to help out DS with the cost of dinner. I've already bought some meat which has come out of the Christmas fund.
Some of the family are coming over to mine between Christmas and New Year but I have most of the food for that already.

I'm finished for December. I have £41.17 left so that means £278.83/£320.00 spent. I would have had more but I bought a few bits for my cousin and although she will offer money I won't be taking it. I haven't gone over the top on Christmas food but the freezer is full (again) and we have plenty in so hopefully that will lead to a strong start and less money spent in January.
Have a good Christmas all of you 😊4 -
Final shop done (hopefully) for the year! I have spent £105.70 of the grocery budget leaving me £44.30 in case I need anything in the few days after Christmas. If not used then I will move it over to the bulk fund as have gone over budget a bit but easily pulled back next month as we have more than enough fizzy drinks to last until our holiday from the middle of January.
As I have managed to tighten up the budget by well over £50 a month this year I have decided that I won't be recording my spends next year.4 -
Milk bill has gone today and with the butcher for meat and deli, plus a new Goan curry mix of spices to try, my year to date is £2,927.70, and leaves me with £73.30 for the rest of the year (without touching the contingency) - enough to buy YS if I want to on Boxing Day, or even do the M&S last hour runaround on Christmas Eve.
We are going to cut back a bit next year, and certainly continue with the eat lighter approach of the last couple of weeks. My trousers feel less tight and there is room in my underwear, where my under-crackers were too snug a fortnight ago.
See those that do join in next year, over on the January thread. We will miss you @joedenise, if you stop joining in.

My new diary is here7 -
My last grocery online shop of the year is coming today and I spent £46 so overall for this month I've spent £393/£400.
I'm really pleased with that as I've stocked up a bit on meat plus I was totally overspending in the two months before and felt out of control with the grocery budget.
So I have £7 for emergencies until the end of the month which I doubt I'll use.
Happy with my progress this month. 😁Grocery challenge:

Closing 2023 with £4293.29/£5200
This averages at £357.77 per month or £82.56 per week.
Really pleased with my efforts this year and I am starting next year with a new budget and full freezers and store cupboards.
Thanks for running the grocery challenge this year!
I’ll see you on the new thread with my new budget in 20242 -
I completely missed this thread with life getting busy, but I did keep track of my spending and spent £440.57, that included Xmas dinner, treats, party food and 8 bottles of wine so I am happy with that. Hope everyone had a wonderful Xmas and see you on the January thread!3
