Credit Karma

I know credit scores are arbitrary and overall I've got great credit history, but the one thing that always "flags" up on my Credit Karma account is that having credit of £15,000 or more will increase my score. Currently it's at £14,500 over 2 credit cards, is it really worth asking for an increase of £500 on one of them?!

If they told you to jump off a cliff....

If you know the score is irrelevant, you can safely ignore any advice that will apparently increase it.

No.  There's a very good reason why they advise you to take out more credit - they hope you'll go via them and they'll earn a nice little kick-back from the card provider.
The ONLY thing you need to use the CRAs for is to validate the accuracy of they data they hold.  Aside from that, ignore any "advice" they give you about how to increase your score/credit-worthiness/whatever you want to call it.  A lender will assess that for themselves, using their own internal systems and the data supplied by the CRAs.  That's all they see - the raw data.
