Barclays Basic Account

Well I guess it had to happen eventually but Barclays have refused my application for a current account and offered me a Basic Account.
Despite having ( or have held ) accounts at almost every bank there is ,and being a veteran of the switching process, I encountered multiple issues with opening the account necessitating a branch visit ( like many people on here ) . So, at the branch I was declined a current account and only offered the Basic one, now reasoning that as they had done a hard search and couldn’t think of anything to lose I accepted the offer and now have a Barclays Basic account.
I’ve no complaints with Barclays as they are entitled to do business as they see it and I know that I won’t get any switching bonus or Blue Rewards etc but can any body think of a reason to keep the account ?

I don’t intend to use the account, really it was just for the switch rewards originally so don’t need it
Should I keep or close ?
Should I keep or close ?

Can you maybe keep it until another switching offer comes along?1

Unless there is something untoward on your credit files - keep it for a few months to see if you are eligible for an account upgrade.0

I don't know if you can CASS switch a basic bank account to a "normal" account at another bank but that would be a reason to keep it.0

Might be time to check ALL credit agencies to see if there is something amiss.Life in the slow lane0 -

You will be credit scored by the bank you are transferring in to - if you pass and qualify for the new account then yes the CASS will transfer and close the old basic account. If you fail the credit test not much point in carrying on with the application.0
