UK Parking Control 'fine' letter

I see plenty of older threads about this company but nothing current. Can anyone help as I cannot find the advice on the forum which was spoken about on the MSE website. Is this company legit or not? Unfortunately I have sent an appeal and they now have my address, but they must have had that anyway to send the letter? It's very worrying and I already explain to them that I had to move slightly over to next bay as large van next to me prevented me from parking totally in bay as I couldn't open my door fully, which I needed to. Can anyone give me solid advice please? I am a Senior Citizen and just can't afford £100 !!

Hello and welcome.
You really shouldn't have told them who was driving.
I too am a senior citizen - nearer eighty than seventy - what has age got to do with it?
Lots of current stuff here. Start with the NEWBIES thread.2 -
Very strange there are threads about UKPC every day on here.

Nothing current?!
Stick UKPC into the search box above and change to NEWEST.
And the advice is in the NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST announcement thread. Top of the forum. No link needed.
No-one pays UKPC. I'm also retired. Lots of us here are.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

Nobody who has found this forum pays UKPC. You are dealing with an intellectually malnourished firm who survive by preying on gullible victims who have little or no idea about the processes that are involved.
Your appeal will be rejected. You can appeal to POPLA but whether you win that appeal or not, is irrelevant. By following the advice in the Newbies/FAQ thread you will defeat these scammers.
There are 4 plans, A, B, C and D. Plan A is to complain to the landowner/store where you received the PCN and write to your MP asking for their intervention. You have done Plan B with is the appeal to UKPC. Plan C is the appeal to POPLA but the most likely plan to win when dealing with this miserable company is Plan D... a county court claim.
You will have to weather a storm of debt collector letters which, if you've read the Newbies/FAQ thread, you will know are useless and can be safely ignored. They will either issue a Letter of Claim themselves or more likely through DCB Legal and this is the best option. They always screw up their claims.
You will defend using the template defence and the claim will be thrown out at allocation stage. In the very unlikely event of that failing, they will discontinue before this ever gets to a hearing.
They are looking for the low-hanging fruit on the gullible tree to capitulate and fund their scam. You are now here which means that you are not low-hanging fruit.2 -
