parking charge, nexus, gym group, validation

Hello,
I joined gym group and used their gym and forgot to validate my car. Now I have a parking charge notice saying that I overstayed, 58 mins (I didnt think that was too long at the gym?) Now they are charging me £100 or £60 for quick payement. I have tried to cancel my membership with the gym since then. They should have a record of me attending as I have to sign in there and sign out when I leave. Thing is, I have not validated my car on either of the times that I went along. What can I do please?
