    I had email confirmation of the grant on a Saturday (sent actually on the Saturday!) and then paper copies arrived at my house on Wednesday. Hope that helps
    Yes I’ve heard this from a few people actually, so seems consistent. The rest of the process seems to take about 40 years but to send a letter takes a few days 😊
  • I had no email but received the probate grants in the post yesterday. Date of issue 20th, received on 22nd. Applied on 17th September and documents (will) acknowledged as received 26th September.

    My online probate application was stopped for more information after 9 weeks, the screen updated as follows:

    "Latest information

    We need more information from you to progress your application.

    Check your email for more details.

    You’ll usually get the grant within 16 weeks of when we receive your application. It may take longer as you need to provide additional information."

    However, after a few days I still haven't received the email!

  • When that happened to me I got the email straight away. If it’s not in the junk folder I would definitely ring or live chat with them
  • Hello, according to the probate website, our probate was granted on Monday. Just waiting on confirmation from our solicitor - so just over 11 wks for probate plus the 20 days with HMRC beforehand

    @pphillips did you receive the email?

    I just got the same message from the probate office and I haven't received an email yet either.

    Nope, but I got through on the phone. The application was stopped because the pages of the will were not bound together and I need to wait a couple of weeks for their email to progress the matter. I told them I thought this was completely pointless as I sent them the original document that they asked for, they just said they don't know what the reasoning is because the policy is decided by higher management.

    @pphillips thank you.

    In a similar situation.  I haven't managed to speak to them, so I've got no idea what further information they require.  So frustrating.  I just want to know what they need, so I can respond.

    @pphillips and @Tiglet2 - the whole system is a farce and while the probate U.K. charity will tell you ‘don’t shoot the messenger’ (ie don’t blame the registry staff), it must be incredibly frustrating to be told nothing, other than read off generic scripts, or allude to some higher power who makes arbitrary decisions about will-binding!
    When ours is chased up we’ve been told multiple times ‘it’s in the queue’ and they can’t/won’t tell you anything else.
    25 weeks now… though there have been some encouraging words exchanged today when they actually replied to an email (wonders never cease!), but let’s see if it actually comes to anything. I daren’t get excited! 😞
