Mistakenly bought an American Fridge with ice maker but needs plumbing in....

So I always like to have an ice maker in my fridge which dispenses crushed ice , however I stupidly bought one that needs plumbing  which isn't much of a problem for a plumber but.. I hate our tap water so I always buy bottled.

We live in a very hard water area .  Is there anyway I can use bottled water negating the problem of plumbing my freezer  in to mains .

If there is what do I need to be able to do it ?..I'd be very grateful for any ideas

Having a non-plumbed in unit its a real pain and as a consequence hardly gets used as it only makes 12 cubes at a go before you manually have to empty and refill with water and needless to say everyone likes using the ice but no one else likes the job of tipping the ice out and refilling the water.

What does the manual say about minimum water pressure? If there isn't any then you could try rigging up a container of water with the pipe connected to the bottom and try and gravity feed it but will have to ensure everyone always keeps the container topped up and avoid airlocks that a gravity system will have more trouble removing.

There should be an inline filter on the fridge freezer that should improve the water quality. I'd suggest mounting the filter in a location that's easy to access to you don't forget to change it every few months (I mounted ours in the cupboard next to the fridge ).

Maybe fit an inline / external water softener as part of the plumbing in which should solve that issue.
