Private Health Insurance (Vaccination Cover)

Is anyone aware of any private medical insurance that covers preventative treatments, such as vaccinations you are no longer entitled to free on the NHS.

Privately vaccines can be upwards of £400 and I have read the T&Cs of the major health insurance providers and they all seem to explicitly exclude this or not mention it at all. So just wanted to see if anyone had come across a provider that does.

What sort of vaccinations are you talking about? I’ve had travel vaccines, but they’ve never been 400 quid.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Given the average PMI has an excess of £300 and your premiums go up each year after a claim even if they were covered it wouldn't be economical to claim (corporate policies naturally being potentially different).

Are you talking about travel vaccines or something else? I suspect I've always been lucky but other than the rarer items (eg Yellow Fever) I've always managed to get them for free from my GP
  • I was partiiculary referring to the HPV vaccine which is roughly £166-£180 per dose and requires two doses, so after nurse fees and any other fees they add on you may be touching £400+. You are only covered on the NHS to get this vaccine free up to 24 years old. I've found that travel vaccines are frequently covered, although those are significantly cheaper.

So was just curious if anyone has come across health insurance that would cover this type of claim, just to make sure I've explored all options.
