Apologies if I am posting this to the wrong section - please move or advise if so

my wife and I are both in our seventies and are Timeshare Owners but unable to use them.

Three out of four of the purchases were sold as investments and the first, original, as an investment and an asset to pass on to our sons, both in their 40’s

all were highly pressurised sales and we were kept 12-14 hours each time

we got conned by The Aberfeldy lot who took more money to get us out of the Contracts, in advance, but zero results

we have also been approached by a “debt collector” on behalf of Azure

Now we have been approached by ECC to do the same thing but reading here, they are con artists too and want an upfront fee of £4,250

are there any reputable firms out there that can get us rid of these mis sold timeshares?  Happy to pay a percentage of whatever is recovered

Do the locations have active sales/resales? I had two weeks in Portugal that I wanted to get rid of, when we visited this year spoke to the lady I the sales office. Within a couple of months both weeks were sold on and we are now timeshare free.

Been scammed 4 times on time shares then by a 'solicitor' claiming you can get your money back.

Best to stop paying for them.

I suppose the first question is, are the timeshares genuine? If they're scams then there is no point trying to recover any money
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Does this mean that they sold it twice - first to you, then to someone else? Happy days! (for them)
  • The only way you will recover any money is if the timeshares were taken out on finance. Be aware that there is a limitation on these claims of 6 years from when the finance is paid off. Other than that, there isn't unfortunately any other way to get your money back from a mis-sold timeshare. All the companies asking for upfront fees are just scams. There are a few FCA and SRA regulated timeshare claims companies on the internet that work on a no win no fee basis. Hope this helps.

Be aware that you resuscitated a thread from last year, whose OP hasn't been back since November....

    Where are the timeshares located?

Saddened to hear that Aberfeldy have turned into scammers.  I can only assume they have been taken over as some years ago they were considered to be about the only trustworthy company out there.  At that time they charged a minimal fee to list the property and then took a percentage of the sale price.

We probably won't get any answers from the OP but the comments and questions are relevant to anybody trying to dispose of a timeshare.  NEVER, EVER pay up front fees of anything more than a nominal amount.  If they aren't prepared simply to take a percentage of the selling price run away from them fast.
We had a timeshare in Wales owned by MacDonalds.  The only way we, and many others, got out was by paying the equivalent of 4 years maintenance fees.  Even that was a one time offer, or at least that's what we were told at the time.
