When does solicitor request bank details?

Ive got a completeion date for the end of the month.

Do I need to contact solicitor about bank details for the remaining balance to be paid or do they usually leave it till the last couple of days to request them?

Normally your solicitor will ask for them but

How much stress do you want ?

Give the details to your solicitor now and then you get no stress

I'm old school and my moto is if you want something don't wait for others to offer it, go get it yourself

Usually you will be asked how you want the money and the fee for a CHAPS payment if you prefer that. You'll be asked for your bank details then, or a cheque will probably be posted to you as an alternative to the CHAPS.

  • Give your solicitor a call and let them have the details for the file - it's one less thing for you all to do later.

  • Don't send the details by email....
  • Well, they could, but they would then be able to expect a phone call afterwards asking them to repeat everything...!

It is normally requested in the pack they give you at the beginning , when you pay a small £50 fee for disbursements etc . That's what I just had to do when selling a property.
