@purpleivy - are you sure your problem is with lactose? If not, I wouldn't think twice about straining it and flavouring it with cardamom / rose / Levantine flavours and mixing in chopped nuts for a delicious dessert: https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/shrikhand-recipe/
Yes I'm sure thanks.  I did a breath test with the Food Marble.   It was a surprise to me.

thanks for all the suggestions.   I made a Mary Berry lemon cake which turned out well.  Plain, but good. Can put icing on or some lemon drizzle. Sitting in the freezer waiting for use and I didn't waste the yogurt.

@purpleivy, what is the breath test to which you refer?  I've never heard of it.

Hmm, are we allowed to talk medical here? There's a gadget called Food Marble.  I found that I got a really high score on milk.  Since then I have spoken to GI specialist who has arranged breath testing at hospital for me to investigate more thoroughly.  THink this also tests for SIBO

I have found that Lactaid tablets usually help if I'm out and want to indulge.  There's another brand that didn't work for me though.

I realise that the yogurt in question has already been baked into cakes. Just one thought I had: I'm surprised that nobody suggested using it for a curry or stroganoff base and freezing the result for later consumption. Is there a reason why these wouldn't work? Just curious, I know it's too late for the OP.

Theoretically a good plan, but I'm more or less lactose free. Curry would be something I eat with husband. Cakes etc are something I can feed other people, visitors, keep my parents in cake too.

Glad it's added to the thread here as it's a good one for other people to do.
