    To the OP, I would suggest that you retain your NatWest account because the length of time you've had it is good for your credit record. Just reduce the balance to a small amount and make the occasional transaction to keep it live, and open another account (either with NatWest or one of the recommended donor accounts) to switch to Nationwide.
    Might do, if it isn't too old for the credit agencies to know about. I've had an account with them since before it merged with National Provincial and was called just the Westminster Bank. Doesn't get me any brownie points with credit agencies though, as they don't seem to know I've got it, and it isn't listed with my other accounts.  

    Mrs R still has her pension paid into it and won't let me close it. Otherwise unused, but can't recall ever having a problem with them - leaving aside the stern "I am surprised to notice..." letter from the bank manager for being £2 overdrawn when I was about 18 years old.
