British gas. Seems to be issue with gas meter readings. In a panic.

Hi, thanks for this. I got through to an actual person this morning. They are still seeing the wrong/lower value directly from my smart meter. In terms of the 06153 value, they said today that it was an estimate. I'm still confused though to how they got an incredible accurate estimate but are reading a massively lower value from the actual meter. Doesn't make sense to me and I couldn't get an explanation.frugalmacdugal said:Hi,same with me since move to new system, no gas smart readings being received, I keep my own wee spreadsheet and send BG readings on 1st of month.Where did BG get the Oct 06153 reading from, or was it an estimate? You only need to press button A for a read, if you check daily you will see it advance.
I did same as you and provided meter readings over the phone, seems it's all in line with what would be expected based on previous bills. They say another team is going to try to get a remote fix of the meter but this sounded like a fob off.
Just as a bit of further info if it helps anyone in similar situation, looking at previous bills it looks like they had smart gas readings until march this year when they suddenly stopped and were replaced with estimates. I still cannot understand at all how they can read a hugely wrong reading when accessing my smart meter but they had the estimate correct.
Seems like no harm done for me but I can't get my head round it and it doesn't fill me with confidence that there's not an issue that's going to come up that leads me to get a huge bill (my energy bills aren't that high, was about £225 per month at peak and down to about £150 now on a 3 bed terrace so I've always been a bit concerned as to why I seem to be less than most people but just trusted the smart meter/bills)1 -
Doesn't sound like there is anything to "fix" to me.
I'd definitely suggest getting on of the third party apps though to see if they are getting your readings and what they show! And for the moment, ensure that you give manual readings monthly.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi, sorry I wasn't aware of these 3rd party apps, is there any specific ones that's generally used?EssexHebridean said:Doesn't sound like there is anything to "fix" to me.
