Shared ownership with loan from parents

    Perhaps your point of principle would make more sense if it was just being gifted, but if it needs to be paid back then a loan is a loan...
    They are means-tested though (or tend to be) and I wonder if someone who can borrow from the Bank of Mum & Dad might be put further down the list than somebody who has to borrow from a normal lender. No idea though, so why not just apply and find out?
    Why though? Maybe someone has such a low or unstable income that they can't get a mortgage and this is the only way. Should they be at the bottom of the list? 
    A loan is a loan and if this is how OP is going to be able to get on the housing ladder, then I don't see a problem with it.
