My car has gone bang yet I need a car to get to work, I could use my dad's as it's not in use anymore. But i'm worried my insurance will rocket if I'm down as the main driver but not owner.
I can easily just send the form off in my name

If you mean registered keeper as opposed to owner (there is a definite difference). - it shouldn’t make a massive difference.
I am main named driver on a vehicle that is Regis to my wife and it make little to no difference.
Just be honest with answering the questions
Is your dads car still insured ? Having two insurance policies on a single vehicle is generally to be avoided1 -
yes sorry resistered keeper, I'll just be the main driver and only one insurance company its currently not insured0

Shouldn’t be an issue - make sure you tax it as well if it’s SORN’d
Probably easier to talk to a human - if that’s possible nowadays0 -
I don;t think there is a problem - one of my DC drives a car that he is main driver but I am owner of, suspect he might even get lower premium as they think he will look after it better if it belongs to mother0

As long as the owner/keeper is a close relative insurers don't tend to mind too much... it's when its random friends or companies that they tend to get more twitchy.0
