NS&I Green 3 Yr Fixed Rate Bond

Hi i have just been going through the process of setting up the above bond and it does mention they may need to do Id and address check all no problem but at the end of the application they are requesting that the sum i need to Invest be transferred by Debt card this is before any of the security checks is this correct does anyone know ? Just seems a bit strange to me

Don't forget all 3yrs interest will be paid and be taxable in year 3

I am fine with the tax on  Interest it was just them asking for funds to be deposited by Debit Card prior to application approval and prior to any ID checks etc that may need to be carrying out that just seems a little strange, has anyone gone through the process with NS&I ?

Many of us opened 1 year bond(s) not too long ago. I can't remember the whole process, but do remember that a debit card payment was required on applying for the bond before it would be processed. From memory, I put in minimum amount required on first bond and then once account opened, which was straight away really, I applied for further bond with higher deposit.

You can buy bonds in chunks

so just buy a small amount first, then when your satisfied all is ok - buy the rest

i bought mine in 5 separate chunks
