in Cutting tax
I've always done a paper tax return but think should now set up online account (due to royal mail losing letters). If I set one up now, would I be able to view previous statements (SA300) and tax calculations or just the ones going forward?
I'd asked them if they could confirm over the phone the date of the last sa300 they sent out but said they don't have access to that information - is that right? They could see the tax calculation letter but not any tax statements on their system, as 'it doesn't hold that information'.

I'm pretty sure you will be able to see historical data not just new information. And HMRC do have access to your previous statements. It might be you just got a newbie who doesn't understand what an SA300 is!

But as far as I'm aware accessing your Personal Tax Account doesn't mean you cannot file a paper return if necessary. Although I presume you have already filed the 2022-23 return?

Thanks for reply Dazed_and_COnfused.
Yes,it's to do with 22/23 tax return.
I spoke with 3 people yesterday and all 3 said they had no access to statements and can 'only presume sa300 posted out at same time as tax calculation as that's what usually happens'. It was a quick 'no' each time, no explanation.
Just remembered what one said - we don't send them out automatically, you need to request them. I always got them without making a request. Have their procedures changed? I didn't get the usual one in July (2023) either, just before my 2nd payment on account.
(I asked last year if I could set up an online account to view paperwork but still do a paper return. They said - no, you can only view online calculations, statements etc, if you file online.)0
