Sky TV nasty customer service when you want to cancel?

Options
I decided to go for the new Sky Stream service and signing up online was extremely easy, however I decided to cancel in the cooling off period and it was a bit of a nightmare.

You can only cancel over the phone and they first asked me why I wanted to cancel? Told them cost was too high and then all of a sudden was told "You are talking to the wrong department" and they will put me through to the right one, then again "You are talking to the wrong department, will put you through to the right one". Then finally got to cancel while being offered a 'deal' for Sky broadband and mobile which I didn't want so refused.

The thing is does anyone think this hard sell, uncooperative with the customer approach from Sky is right or fair when you change your mind and should something be done legally to prohibit it?

Personally i think it can be counter-productive also. People might remember such difficult conversation and never go back to Sky.

You think that is bad, try cancelling with Virgin Media.  Allegedly customers have had to resort to a recorded delivery letter to VM.
