Co-op bank referral offer

Options
Hi everyone,

For the co-op bank referral offer for £125 each, is there any limit on how many people I can refer?

Comments

  • Of the top of my head I believe you can refer up to 5 people. It will be in the terms and conditions.

Are there any limits to the offer?

There’s no limit to how many friends you can refer, so every eligible friend you refer will receive a £125 reward.

Please note: We reserve the right to withhold any payment (or to reverse any payment already made) where we have reasonable grounds for suspecting you have sought to materially abuse or profiteer from the offer. For example this may arise if we have grounds for believing that you have sought to engage in a marketing campaign to solicit applications from individuals who are not from within your family or immediate circle of friends.

Of the top of my head there is no any limit and (/because) the T&C don't say anything about this.
    However, the FAQs do say:

  • I might be confusing things then sorry. Might have been one of their previous refer a friend offers as they've revamped it 2 or 3 times now I think, maybe it was a limit of 5 before they introduced the pay in, direct debit and transaction hoops to jump through?

Under the £50 offer it used to be that the recommender would only receive a payment under the refer-a-friend offer for the first two people they referred. This was then increased in July 2022 to 5.

The limit on the number of payments the recommender could receive under the offer was eventually removed at the time the first £125 offer was launched in November 2022.

Thanks for clarifying. I switched in November 2022. Applied for the account when it was £50 but then they wanted to see ID at a branch, wasn't worth my time going to my nearest branch for that but a few days later they increased the offer to £125 and they said I'd be eligible for the higher amount so off I popped to my nearest branch 30 miles away. Anyway that's why I was remembering the 5 people rule, my bad.

OP if you can find anyone willing to switch, go for it, no one I know is interested in switching banks for any kind of incentive no matter how much I tell them how easy it is. Other than my wife (who also had to show ID in branch for the co-op bonus 🙄)
  • Having experienced Co-op earlier this year, I wouldn’t want to inflict them upon anyone, even for £125. The contempt they have for their customers is staggering.

Yeah they're not great, outdated systems. Also spent about an hour on the phone being interrogated as if I was on trial after I tried to transfer the £125 bonus out to another account, made sure my wife withdrew the cash from a cash machine to avoid having to do the same. Wouldn't do any banking with them but a good one to switch and dump after getting the bonus (after doing a couple referrals if you can).
