Now that I'm in the know I'll be using my debit card for everything, I guess I'm a bit old school using cash.
Thank you for your replies1 -
If you like cash for some things just buy supermarket items and go to self service cash/card till. When you pay insert card into machine and it should offer cash back. I prefer cash for some things so I know exactly how much I have to spend especially when going shop to shop for cheapest prices or giving child pocket money etc. I think £40 is the most you can ask for and it just shows as supermarket name. I feel safer getting the money from there than a cash machine security wise.0

Gary37 said:I do intend to use cash a lot, during the summer just gone, I was going out on some day trips to the sea side and country side, the travel and expenses does mount up, so I was taking out cash £100 - £200 while I was over the £6000 threshold, will that be considered as DoC ? as I have no receipts.
Also I use cash for everyday living more than my debit card.
Although the points about card payments being more traceable still stand, of course, but having a pattern already of using cash for everyday living and then maybe a bit more on holiday is certainly reasonable.
(And presumably for any larger one-off purchases you would keep the receipt no matter how you paid for the item, in case it later became faulty and needed to be returned.)0 -
Thanks Auti that seems a good idea0

Spoonie I do have a pattern taking out cash and a bit more in the summer and at xmas. I just hope it doesn't look especially suspicious now that my trend is using my debit card and not the cash machine

As it looks like you will keep having the same problem as having too much money building up, could you rejig your payments?
So instead of waiting 6 months to pay, you now pay every month, so are always 6 months ahead and your cash doesn't build up.
Let's Be Careful Out There0 -
HillstreetBlues As I've just paid my 6 monthly rent in advance, that would mean I would be paying double by next may if I start monthly payments now.0
