Amex - supplementary cardholders and requests for info

Hi, all. I have an immaculate and active Amex with two supplementary cardholders within my household. Amex have suddenly demanded that I supply P60s/payslips for the supplementary cardholders and claim that it's just something they're "required" to do.
One is a company director so their P60 shows a typical director salary, while the other is a sole trader who tends to earn under the tax threshold, so even an SA302 or equivalent wouldn't offer Amex any reassurance.
I'm struggling to see how they're entitled to this information when I'm the only person liable for the debt, which is settled in full each month. Searching the FCA website isn't getting me anywhere.
I'd be interested in your perspective.

This may well come under the new FCA legislation that has taken effect this year 'Consumer Duty', I believe it has superseded 'Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)'.
Might be worth having a look at that section of the FCA handbook.
I would imagine they are well within their rights to ask as it is their money and they don't have to do any business with you if they don't want to.
I'd supply whatever information required and then complain if the outcome isn't appropriate.Save £5k in 2024 challenge #32

It may also be to stop those offered extras (for example, extra Avios points) for adding a supplementary card holder on their BA Amex and signing up their cat/dog/parrot etc as a supplementary card holder to get the extra points (my neighbour's aged cat had an Amex for a few years following such an offer).Asking for payslips/P60 etc proves the supplementary card holder is a human.0
