Can I get the OAP discount in the B&Q sale?

Options
Hi all,
I'm looking to purchase an IT Kitchen from B&Q. They currently have 1/2 price on all doors followed by 20% off your total order. If I go with my dad who's an OAP on Wednesday can I get an extra 10% off?

Also, does B&Q do the cheapest handles? Can anyone recommend anyone else?

Thanks.

First question, I can't answer, as I don't work for B&Q. But I know someone who does. If you ring him in the morning at your local store, he'll be able to answer that one.

Second question, I have in general found Wickes to be cheaper for handles, but it depends if you can find what you (or more importantly, Mrs Icebergx) like. You're going to have to live with those handles for many years. Although, bear in mind, if the handles have just one screw, you will be able to change them easily at a later date.
If you can find multi-packs (e.g. 10 to a pack), they tend to be MUCH cheaper than buying individually.

i dont know about the extra 10% discount, but its unlikely. most companies T/C state that discounts like that, cannot be used with any other offer/s.
    Get some gorm.

If you look in the small print, I think you'll find you can't use your discount on kitchens anyway

or bathrooms - was gutted after dragging MiL there and then told couldn't use the OAP card (sob!)
;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

half price then an extra 20% and you still want more. why not ask for free fitting. lol .
  • We have had Wednesday OAP discount via the MiL on both Kitchens and bathrooms on more than one occasion. The most recent being about 3 months ago which was applied on top of whatever sale / offer was on at the time (I think it was 1/2 price doors with the kitchen and then 20% on the bathroom)

Just reading this thread with interest as I'm planning on taking my girlfriends mother along to sign up for her OAP card tonight so that we can get an extra 10% off the sale price on some fitted wardrobes..

Anyone know if it's worth taking her down there to sign up (I believe she could get 10% off initial purchases then 10% on Wednesdays thereafter) or are they likely to refuse her the discount on sale items?

Not sure how the card works with wardrobes, but bear in mind that we tried to get something with my dad on his card, but he also had to pay for it (i.e. we could not pay for it on our card ... even though we said it was for him and he didn't have the funds on him!!!!)

You can definitely get the OAP discount on kitchens and during sales I find that usually the B&Q OAP discount is applied on top of other savings. When I got my kitchen in the summer, some of the parts were already 20% off and the 10% was still applied to the final total.

As others have mentioned, the only complication I have come across is that the OAP has to pay for the items themselves, I just transferred the money into my dad's account so that he could put it on his card.
