Anti-slip solution for a patio?

Hi guys
Ive got a slate patio. Each year, in the winter months, I nearly always come a cropper on it! Its so slippy! This year Ive decided to actually do something about it.
Can you recommend a decent anti-slip solution? Preferably something I can just brush on that will stop it from being so slippy? And perhaps something that works on wood too?
Thanks

I have Indian sandstone and that is not at all slippy. Are you sure it's the slate and not algae?0

It probably is algae, but perhaps also the slate. Its no problem when its dry, but in winter its very slippy. I used some Jessops on it the other day and gave it a good brush/clean, but its still slippy.

Yup, salt/grit.1

I think we are talking slippery when wet rather than ice. Power wash the algae off on a regular basis.3

Ive been looking an anti-slip additives, but it all seems a bit convoluted. So an easier solution like this is better for me.0 -
You will have to be doing that quite often meaning it will get expensive over time.
Better off getting an anti-slip stone sealant that you just paint over the slate slabs and will last for a few years at a time.0 -
I do mine twice a year and I reckon that bottle will last me about 4 years. It takes about half an hour do do for a 5m x 8m patio and a path down side of house400ixl said:You will have to be doing that quite often meaning it will get expensive over time.

Bleach mixed with water and a brush with a broom will get rid of algae from slate.
Some of the algae removers claim to prevent regrowth but slate is non-porous so I'm not sure if they would be as effective at preventing it coming back again on slate.
