There are many concerned Forumites giving good advice and asking pertinent questions.
  • OK - time to take a step back. First question is as above - you mention a summons - do you actually have documents from the court?

Second - your OP uses the phrase "nasty grams" - this phrasing suggests to me that the contact that you are getting currently is via email - is that the case? If the contact currently is via email then you can relax a bit - as for a debt to be chased effectively that must be done via a letter in the post. For contact via email which is escalating, I'd first suggest sending the Prove It letter from the Debt Free Wannabe board - you will find it linked in the sticky thread with templates at the top of that board. Only make the needed amendments to it - do NOT supply any extra information. Send it off and wait and see what comes back.

Third - do you still have the paperwork relating to your purchase of your home? If so, then find the Property Information Form and check who was stated as the utilities provider at the time - that will clarify whether it was in fact nPower.
