Shortlisting Process:
Entries will be judged on how entertaining, compelling, and heart-warming the entry is. All entries will be judged by the KISSFM Breakfast production team, the production manager, and an independent judge.
We will be shortlisting a total of nine entries from the opening of the competition from the 08/11/2023 at 00:01 until 7 days after the close of the competition online entry period on 24/11/2023 at 10:00.
The nine successful shortlist entrants will be contacted by a member of the KISSproduction team and asked to reiterate their story over the phone and confirm their availability between 06:00 – 11:00 from 20/11/23 – 08/12/2023 where the on- aircompetition stage will take place.
On shortlisting, we will require the entrant to explain and talk through their entry. The entry must be compelling and match the entry that was entered online. The entrant will be asked to provide confirmation that the friend referred to in the entry story consents to their full name and phone number being shared with the KISS Production team. Phone numbers will only be used in relation to this competition i.e. never for marketing purposes.
Upon confirmation from the entrant that the friend can be contacted, a member of theKISS production team will call the friend, and they will be asked to also reiterate the story.
During this stage the KISS production team will also ask the entrants to confirm any medical or special assistance required if they were to get through to the final competition stage (the ”Room of Doom”), or if they have any mental health conditions that they wish to disclose.
Being called during the shortlisting period does not mean that the entrant has gotthrough to the on-air competition stage. For example, a shortlisted entrant will not proceed to the on-air competition if (i) they are unavailable on the required dates, (ii) their story does not match their friends’ story, (iii) their story does not match the judging criteria, or (iv) their friend no longer wishes to participate in the competition.
If the entrant is successful in the shortlisting stage, they will be contacted before the end of the shortlisting period by the KISS production team to organise the date and time of their on-air competition stage.
On-Air Competition Stage:
Upon being successful during the shortlisting period, the 9 pairs of friends will be invited to participate in an on-air competition stage. This stage can take place on the Breakfast Show on any date between 20/11/23 – 08/12/23 (excluding weekends) andbetween the times of 07:00 – 11:00. The date will be finalized and arranged by the KISS production team and the successful shortlisted entrants. Each pair’s on-air competition stage will be on a different day from the other pairs. The KISS team will cooperate with the pairs to select an appropriate date, but if the pair cannot participate on any of the required dates, they will be eliminated from the competition.
We reserve the right to shortlist further entries from the pool of online entries should any of the original nine shortlisted entries not proceed.
During the on-air interview, the best friend pairs will be asked to reiterate their story to Jordan and Perri, will be asked a question regarding their friendship and will finally participate in a game of ‘Say it the Same’ which includes each pair answering the same word from a specific topic given by the KISS Production team. The best-friend pair will be given 5 attempts to answer the same answer as each other, at the same time. If the pair has failed to provide matching answers after the 5 tries, they will be eliminated from the competition.
This stage of the competition will be judged based on how the time it takes the pairto achieve matching answers within the 5 tries, measured in minutes and seconds.
The topics during each competition stage will be selected by the KISS Productionteam on the day of the on-air interview. There will be different topics for each interview.
The two fastest pairs will win this stage and will progress to the Room of Doom final stage.
All entrants will be asked a tie-breaker question by the KISS production team during each on-air competition stage. In the case that two or more pairs achieved matching answers in the same amount of time, the tie-breaker question will be used to decide the two final pairs. The tie-break question will be in the “closest to the pin” format. The pair that comes closest to the correct answer will be the winner (where applicable).
