Does anyone have a list of energy firms that offer social electricity tariffs?
I read online recently that they used to be social tariffs years ago, but they were being phased out open
I receive all of the disability benefit, so assumed I would be eligible for the social tariffs
I receive all of the disability benefit, so assumed I would be eligible for the social tariffs
I'm trying to find a better/cheaper tariff, but I see Martin advises that true to their price energy cap that there are no longer competitive deals and that the only option is to get a loyalty deal with your current provider
If there are no social tariff available,
What's the simplest way to compare electricity companies will raise, like you used to be on the MSC cheap energy club I understand mate now says due to the price cap that there are no competitive deals and the best. Sometimes your current energy firm may offer you a loyalty offer, but I am with OVO Energy and there is no search offer for me.

If you have a smart meter a TOU (time of use) tariff may be beneficial, if you are amenable to matching your usage with the cheapest times. I'm on Agile Octopus, which tracks the half-hourly wholesale prices, and I pay around half to two-thirds of the SVT rate. Sometimes I get paid to use electricity.0

Was never a big focus for comparison shopping sites given the nature of the scheme pushed onto the suppliers by the regulator and the small group of consumers eligible.
Bigger/older prior incumbent suppliers - Centrica/BGT, EON, SP etc. more likely to have actually implemented this than the startups. Regulator pushed them to do it first. New entrants given more time and not a growth priority for them.
So websites and (shudder) call centres of the big supplier group - would be where I would look - trawling around the fuel poverty topic as the language has changed over the years. I recall "social action tariff" from the 90s version of this. As always in such things what is old shall be new again.

Eon next are sporadically offering 25% off to those that meet their criteria. Up to 50% off if already in debt. Existing customer only and not for all that meet the criteria it appears. Customers must pay by direct debit and agree to have a smart meter fitted.

You assume you would be eligible for any due to disability benefits, but most of these kind of initiatives are for people on low-income benefits, so if there were any suicidal social tariffs around one of the benefits you claim would likely need to be means-tested.
If you have Dimplex Quantum heaters you might benefit from the special Economy 7 British Gas are offering.
Otherwise Octopus have time-of-use tariffs that could save you a fortune if you keep an eye on the price; Agile if you can avoid the 4-7pm peak or Tracker if you can't.
If you're currently on Economy 7 then having a look at each company's rates for their E7 tariffs, armed with your own usage figures to do the calculations yourself, could also save you money.
Edited - oh my goodness what a terrible typo0 -
You will get £50 if you use a octopus referral code, some other suppliers also have sign up offers.
