We signed up for the British Gas scheme that's linked to the Paralympics. This is saving energy on Sunday afternoons until the end of the year. British Gas were slow to respond so that will only run for 4 weeks instead of a potential 6.

Today there's a one day scheme to shift usage during the cold snap. I'll join in with very little adjustment to when I cook dinner (need to start after 6) but not expecting to get rich quick! 🤣

So if you don't historically use much electricity during those peak hours am I right you wouldn't save much of anything as they're looking for a change in your usage?

Yes, but on the right tariff you are saving money all year by avoiding the peak. The saving sessions are just a bit of fun to see how low you can go, with a small cash bonus.

How prevalent are these tariffs. I am moving into an electronic only flat soon so would really benefit from that. It would only work if the daily unit outside of those hours aren't increased like E7.

Octopus have the most and most innovative tariffs. The former Big-6 suppliers are largely still in the last century.
