leaking shower in my house

Options
Ive brought a house but when i moved in i realised that the electric shower is leaking when its turned on, is there anything i can do about it or is it too late or do i just get it fixed myself

Comments

  • If you bought the house from another individual I think it's too late to do much about it. When you buy a house it's pretty much as seen. In which case you would have to pay to get it fixed.

If it was bought new then you should have some legal rights to request the builder to fix it.
  • You could contact your solicitor, get quotes for repair, small claims court, blah blah, doubt it's worth the hassle. Maybe the sellers didn't use the shower ? and their stinking ! or maybe they did, and they are just dishonest.

What buyers need is some lo££y held back, say a £1.000 for 7 days after completion , in the event of a small claim, That would sort out the smelly/dishonest sellers .
  • This may be more simple than you think !!!:T not much point trying to claim money back, but.... if the showers leaking downstairs it will just be the mastik bead around the shower base, if its dripping from the unit? you'l more than likely find a push fit coupler connected to the shower (most showers have 3 screws on the front plate/cover) so take off the front, turn off the electric!!!! and try pushing it back on!!! otherwise it may just be a small hole in the hose so £10 or so for a replacement.

good luck:money: p.s im on here xmas day as my mrs is a nurse and workingicon9.gif

As above, if you've bought the house 2nd hand, that's it.

#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided

#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now

#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing

Unless you buy a new house, where the builders are obliged to correct faults, its buyer beware.

How detailed a survey you arrange prior to purchase is your choice but it really is a case of "buyer beware".
