Perfect Plumbers. Nightmare reviews and bad experience

Last year I had a leak.
My wife called Perfect Plumbers as I was away.

I checked the above reviews and it seems I was in the same boat as other people.
My story is. They came, knocked through to the cistern area and fixed a pipe that had burst and was leaking to flats below. All of this took 2 hours to do. Got overcharged 10x for the 2 parts and the bill was £800. Originally my wife was in a panic and called them and agreed £240 call out. £240 per hour. Said they are VAT which they weren't.
We had to call the person back. The toilet was not screwed down and the pipe where you flush the water was leaking now as the toilet moved when you sat on it. Unbroken tiles were not replaced back after taking out.
Just a shambles
I see people saying they are trying to haggle back their money for all sorts of scenarios. Lot's of people saying they are operating illegally and not registered correctly. Does anyone know how we can group together

Facebook is one potential medium, you can set up a private group, but watch out for them trying to join the group, or getting one of their friends to do so. It's not illegal to club together, but you need to be careful about defaming them. Any horror stories needs to be documented and investigated to confirm that they have really happened, and the same firm/individual(s) are the cause.
If you have home insurance, check to see if you have legal expenses cover. If you do, call the legal helpline for advice about how to pin them down.
However, you have make it more difficult for yourself by paying. The time to resist is before you give them any money. You should always expect to have to pay the call out fee if they turn out. If you realise you have been had while they are on site (as I was recently when I employed an emergency drainage plumber), you have to decide whether to go into Fight or Flight mode. If you flee (as I did), you pay up and accept that the money has been wasted. If you decide to fight, you stick to your guns and call the Police immediately they show any signs of threatening you. Just tell them to contact you in 24 hours to discuss it "when you are less upset".
You should expect to overpay for parts, as any plumber has to buy them first to have them in the van ready for customers, 3x the cheapest internet price is reasonable as plumbers might be paying more than the cheapest discounters have them on the internet for, and they have to provide a warranty for the parts, and go to get them, etc.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -

anyone can be a plumber (provided of course they don't work on gas)
I could call myself a plumber and charge a thousand pounds to change a tap washer and would be doing nothing wrong1 -
Lot's of people saying they are operating illegally and not registered correctly
Ask these 'lot's of people' what registration they talking about.1 -
