I think tifo had a thread last year where they were in significant arrears. Their high bills could be due to paying off debts?
If tifo can supply meter readings, we can help them understand where the money is going.

Get yourself a couple of thermometer modules (something like this - https://cpc.farnell.com/dfrobot/fit0507/thermometer-50-to-110deg-c/dp/IN09528? ), and clip the probes to the flow & return pipes on each radiator in turn. Depending on the flow temperature, you want around a 10-12°C difference between the two pipes. Quite possibly, the installers just did a quick rush job in balancing the system - Unfortunately, it takes time.

My take on clipping the probe to a pipe -

I have mine on my boiler, they have lagging over them and ziptied tight around the whole lot, they're slightly slow to respond when the boiler is heating but they catch up and it matches the boilers display, the only thing I could do to improve them would be to add a thermal interface like you use on CPUs.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276090356143 should do the job - The NTC sensors respond fairly rapidly to temperature changes.
On the subject of temperature - Drop your flow temperature down by 5-10°C, and it will improve boiler efficiency if it is a condensing model.

Return is actually under 55c the majority of the time, it's only when it first kicks in the return ends up over that.

In response to the various questions ....

    Gas:

I pay the debt off but factor in this when calculating usage, it is still very high. It's a prepayment smart meter. I've raised it with them but they don't care. I seem to have 2 debts on it but BG only refer to one. I have D1 and D2 they only ever refer to D2.

I had a worcester boiler fitted last March 2022. But the gas credit usage was the same with the old boiler and this new one hasn't made any difference even though it's meant to be efficient and is 5kw less (30 than 35).

I'm a vulnerable customer through illness (have threads on here) and in 2020 BG changed the credit meter to a prepayment after getting a warrant that I did not know of (they said (in 2019) letters must've got lost in post and to ask royal mail). Since then i've been trying to get it changed back to a credit meter but they won't do it. Even up to ceo team level.

    Electicity:

We've not changed usage habits much from before and the bills seem to have jumped up after the increases from last summer. I didn't used to check before but then I found that my bills were much higher than neighbours with similar usage. We did use electric heaters as well but this was minimal. This is a catch 22 situation, the more central heating we use the more gas credit is used (it literally jumps up), then the more electric heater we use the electricity bill is higher.

    I've a credit smart meter.

It seems that those with dual fuel are paying just over half of what I pay separately to my separate gas and electricity suppliers.

I won't take over this thread and may create separate ones for my issues.

Yes its a condensing boiler Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDi Classic, aprox 5 years old. I've put temperature gauges on the flow and return and after about 30 mins they are 36.6C and 40.1C.
Unless those temp gauges are known accurate AND they have a good thermal connection to the pipes, I wouldn’t necessarily trust those readings.
The metal probes are secured to the pipes with metal cable ties to hold them firmly against the pipe. I've checked them against a hand held temperature gun and they are within 0.5C. The boiler also has a flow temperature readout on it which is within 1C of my digital gauge.

When the heating goes off in the evening, when the kids go to bed about 8pm, by 9pm the hose is cold, not far off the outside temperature. Last winter we had ice on the inside of our bedroom windows in the morning. The below picture was the temperature in the hall Sunday morning before we put the heating on.

Trying to heat the house for several days to warm up the fabric of the building means running the heating 24/7 which at current costs is about £25 a day thats £750 a month!

But you should start to see it reducing over the 3 days, by day 4-5 it will only be matching the heat loss. People posted Gas usage charts last year showing just that. wish i saved them, And google is useless now.

Are the 3 loft rooms glazed? Heat rises!

Also is the thermostat in a location that hits the target temp?
