Help with understanding UC commitments

I have been using UC for a month now and it has been very confusing to say the least. I got my new commitments today which are: report any changes and complete all activities in my to do list. Would this involve having to go to the job centre on a weekly basis? The reason I ask is because I was asked to do this last month without being told it was voluntary for me to do so and not mandatory. I had to do my own research and make a couple of calls to citizens advice to find out. After I asked them to explain to me what regime I am on and questions related to the overall income of my household my job centre appointments were cancelled and I got given a date to receive an answer. That date has gone past and they haven’t updated me about my situation. That’s why I would like to know if based on my current commitments I am obligated to attend the job centre.

I must clarify I am looking for work and have a couple of interviews next week 🤞🏻 but because I have 3 young children it is not straightforward. Also my nearest job centre is more than an hour away by public transport and I would have to go with two of my children, that’s why I don’t want to go if it isn’t necessary. Thanks

Your commitments do not involve attending appointments. They are exactly what they say they are. Report any changes and complete all activities in your to do list.

Be careful there - the requirement to attend any appointments is covered by virtue that a claimant is notified of the requirement to attend in their ToDo list, and as above they have agreed to complete all tasks in their ToDo list, and that includes attending any mandatory appointments.
It is mostly work preparation and work search activities that are additionally listed on a person's commitments.
