Morning again, I don't know what the weather is like, I haven't looked out , but yesterday was nice, if a bit cold.
I went to the Book Club, there weren't many of us this month. We still had a good discussion though.
We tidied the garden in the afternoon, it was a long overdue tidy, but it's been so wet lately. I cut a few thing back and moved some pots to the backyard where it's sheltered.
This morning I think I'll wash the front path, it's looking dirty and a bit mossy in places.
This afternoon I've got another bladder appt, the camera this time.
Tonight it will be the usual pub quiz, and that's Tuesday sorted.
Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of our poorly people and those with relatives who aren't well. Take care folks.9 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, hope your appointment goes well.
Dry with the promise of a nice day here, shame I don't have any washing to put out. The house is still fairly tidy, just had a hoover about last night, don't know where all the bits come from.
I'm going to visit a recently retired colleague after work, we're planning a trip to the ballet and I'll bring her up to date on all the news at work. I've jam to take to her too and I've no doubt she will have been keeping all her egg boxes for me (they are good firelighters).
Work was incredibly busy yesterday as my colleague went to the Drs and has strep throat - don't want her anywhere near me thank you very much - there are 3 of us in quite a small space so the germs will travel very quickly. I'm sure today will be much the same.
Hope everyone's well, take care. XX9 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Good luck with the camera job. It looks a bit damp here but forecast to improve.
I survived my Covid jab unscathed, no after effects and not even a sore arm. I had a bit of a wander round town after but nothing caught my eye. I'd just nicely got home when DS rang to check if I was in as he had finished work at lunchtime and was going to call in. Rather than the usual flying visits he had time to stop for a coffee and a good chat which was nice.
Tonight I am off to the theatre (Alhambra) again with DD and youngest DGD. More complimentary tickets courtesy of the booking code given to the girls' dance principal! We are going to see Life of Pi. It gets 5* star reviews from other venues of the tour so it will be something a bit different. We have decided to treat ourselves to dinner first in the theatre restaurant so it won't be a free MSE night out after all!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"8 -
Hi everyone, I didn't have a great night, I woke in the early hours drenched so I hope I'm not coming down with something, I'd blame hormones but I've never suffered from hot flushes and I should be well past that now. It was Esben's birthday yesterday, he's four now and we had a video call from Costa Rica with him, the waiters brought him a birthday cake at breakfast. I'm going over to look after Nate while Crystal has an appointment, Steve is golfing so I'll go by myself. They've pulled him out of the nursery he was at because he was very unhappy and they weren't getting any decent feedback from them. They have another lined up but they don't have space until January. Steve started tidying our garden yesterday as well Scarlet, I intended to help but got caught up sorting the cupboards in the utility room. I also started sorting the kitchen cupboards, I have one which had a lot of seeds, nuts and dried fruit packets and was constantly untidy. I got some takeaway containers and put them inside them and labelled them with the contents and date. To my shame I had to bin quite a lot of ood items but hopefully will be able to keep on top of things now that I can see at a glance when things need to be used. I'd better go as I still have things to do before the new cleaner gets here.9

Morning all
Dry and sunny here yay ! But there is a frost on the cars but I would rather that than rain which is due back tomorrow. Three people coming today as my lady is feeling better now it will be so nice to see her I will see what they fancy doing but there is an exhibition of peace doves in a local cathedral so I would quite like to see that, there are 15000 doves made of paper by local schools all with messages on and a lighting display which I think would be nice to see.
Dinner tonight is a mystery until I go and look in the freezer there are a few options I think so we won’t starve, I need to run the hoover round this morning.
Camelot that’s such a good idea using egg boxes to light the fire I’m going to try that xx
Scarlet good luck for today xxx
NRA thinking of you xx
Have good days all and take care xx8 -
Morning all, good luck today Scarlet. It's wet, some flood alerts around town. I've just read an article in the local paper about a path I use when picking DGS up from school has caused some arguments on sm. When it rains , up to about 8' of standing water appears that can be at least 6 inches deep. It's between the junior school and high school, and a man put some bricks down as stepping stones to help the kids get through but someone apparently tripped in the dark, and has complained. The council say it would cost thousands to remedy and it's mainly the schools that should fork out not them
In the meantime the children regularly slip and get soaked, and if you haven't got wellies on you've no chance. DGS is back to school today so hope he's got his wellies as water levels are high around town. The park was just 1 big lake yesterday.
We got what we wanted yesterday at the big diy place, and priced up the sliding doors at another trade place. We need to advertise the old bedside cabinets and dressing table otherwise there isn't much room to work!I cooked salmon & prawns in a piri piri sauce for tea - clean plates all round. DH has been eating his way through a large baguette instead of the loaf I made, which went mouldy and had to be thrown.I've swapped back to the old bread bin to see if it keeps better than the newer metal one. Luckily the last loaf I made got put in the freezer straight away so there is some available.
TA & Izzy, sounds like a good performance to watch, enjoy.Snoozer, I find that the others in the household never put things back in the same place, so I miss things sometimes.Hope you can avoid those germs Camelot!Have a good day folks x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Sorry you're feeling so rough Snoozer - I hope you get a better sleep tonight.Scarlet - good luck with the procedure today, do you get a sedative beforehand?TA - enjoy the theatre and the meal. Remember, you are MSE so you can have some good times! The morning has eventually become bright and clear though very cold. Yesterday I lit the woodburner because the cleaner was coming, she was really pleased to see it on. I forget that others don't have my resilence to cold, I'll wrap up and sit under the electric throw as much as possible - until I give in. One of my friends who came up to stay at Easter (in a holiday cottage) brought in a huge Costco bag full of logs which sat in a corner of the living room. I had to use some of the wood yesterday, it's still the old stuff so it burns very quickly.Today I have my first ever nail session. My fingernails are in a dreadful state, they keep splitting and layering and I don't know why. I'm not washing dishes or clothes by hand. Anyway, I thought that some form of covering will give the nails time to grow - I have no real idea so and trusting the young women to help out. She has her studio in her back garden so it'll be nice and snug.My lovely wall clock suddenly stopped yesterday. Three different new batteries couldn't persuade it to restart. I emailed the company about it and was delighted to get a very prompt reply suggesting that the it was perhaps the movement which had packed in. I'm sending it back to them in Glasgow for a repair, great customer service so far.9

Gers, I hope it helps although I had some gel nail varnish applied in the summer and though it was only on about four weeks my nails have been in a dreadful state since, flaking and splitting all the time. Hopefully they are recovering now but I have had to keep them very short.10

Good morning all...I'm back after a long weekend of fun and frolicking...very big , very high spec farmhouse , with the best kitchen [for size] I've ever cooked in. It was a good weekend, met some new people, all of them [ they're all OHs school friends] were welcoming and nice people. Back to reality now though, with farmhouse envy
Today I have some forms to fill in and an inventory of stuff to make Christmas cakes has to happen. I'll see if I have enough to make two today and then get the rest of the stuff for tomorrow or the day after. I think I'm making four to start with. I don't have a big enough mixing bowl either so I'll clean out the spare washing bowl and do it in that. If it was good enough for my father, it's good enough for me. I made a fajita stew last night with some of the chicken I forgot to take with me, cooked the rest in the slow cooker so that can get frozen later on. The cat sitter was happy, so were the cats, so all good there too. I do have to freezer shuffle a bit because I also bought hash brwns for the weekend and forgot to take them. Best research some recipes I can use them in....
NRA, my condolences..Abbafan, no, but it's on the list of things to watchCoxy, how did the second opinion go? Izzy, ,do your 117 days include weekends or just the working week? Gers, same here. I've been considering taking collagen or something. The gel polish seemed to help with them splitting horixontally but didn't stop them from snapping from the sides if that makes sense. I've had to keep them really short for a while and they snap back really easily if I bend them backwards by accidentt...hope it works for you...snoozer, hope you get a good sleep soon! Rosy, know anyone who can put some MOT or gravel type stuff down as a temporary measure? Sometimes, , you just have to take charge before action happens...TA, enjoy the show! Camelot, have a lovely catch up...Scarlet, hope it goes well today! Take care all, shout out to the MIA....
