ZOPA Credit Card - My Experience

I'd like to share my firsthand experience with ZOPA Credit Cards for the benefit of those considering an application.

The signup process was a breeze, and managing my account through their user-friendly app has been a seamless experience. One notable perk is the absence of foreign transaction fees, making international spending with Zopa exceptionally cost-effective. Moreover, the APR offered is highly competitive, making it a practical choice for those who occasionally need to carry a balance. The initial credit limit was generous, although it's worth noting that, after 18 months of being a Zopa cardholder, I have yet to receive a credit limit increase, and there doesn't appear to be an option to request one.

However, it's important to acknowledge a few areas where Zopa Credit Cards could improve:

  1. Currently, Zopa does not support Apple Pay or Google Pay, and there's no clear indication of when these convenient payment methods will become available.
  2. I have experienced difficulties when attempting to use the Zopa Card at petrol pumps, making this aspect somewhat inconvenient. Tesco and Asda.
  3. Zopa Card seem to lack the ability to facilitate balance transfers to other cards, as many other providers don't accept Zopa for this purpose.

In conclusion, Zopa Credit Cards offer a generally positive experience, but there are some limitations that potential applicants should be aware of.

Agreed, I find the app easy to use and understand, happy with initial credit limit and the sole purpose of my application was for the FX fee free aspect.

I've had a few scenarios whereby they've been trigger happy at blocking the card when used abroad but in the main very good and i've been able to get hold of them by both chat and phone when necessary.

I queried credit limit with them as I too have yet to see a sniff of an increase after nearly 15 months, all I got back from the agent when I queried this was 'I am very sorry you feel this way' and the usual speel about maintaining account, paying back on time blah blah which I have never paid a penny in interest on the card and have spent a fair amount in this time.

Not interested in BT's so not bothered but think they should introduce BT/MT offers to retain customers.

    Overall i'm happy.
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

  • Just to say they absolutely do support Google pay I use mine all the time. But I echo they're a great card and I love mine, no fees abroad and I tend to use the card exclusively for Euro spending

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
  • They support Google pay, and Balance transfer I had the option of using x amount for balance transfer without any fees, I don’t agree that the app so good

Highly competitive? What APR did they give you? Mine started at about 34 and they increased it to 38%!

Mine was 14.9% APR before the BoE increases, it now sits at 18.90% APR.

Surely the APR is irrelevant if you're paying the card off in full every month? Unless it's a balance transfer and then it's 0% presumably? Running a balance on any CC unless it's 0% on spending or absolutely unavoidable and temporary is madness. And this is from someone who thought nothing of maxing out his cards and getting over limit charges as a matter of course in a previous life! If you can't afford to clear in full, don't use it. Road to ruin if you do. Mine started at 18% and is now 21.9%

  • I was given an APR of around 20% I believe, I always use my ZOPA for big purchases if I am not paying it off right away, as everyone else for my other cards are 34+%.

Google pay is interesting, I wish Apple Pay was accepted I find it such an issue not having Apple Pay.

I have never been able to BT away from the card, never been given the option to BT to the card, (this appears to be account by account basis), still yet to get an increase and still can't use the card at Pay at Pump.
  • Perhaps look at Monzo flex. They give the option of paying back over 3 installments interest free
