Ladybirds love Japanese Anemones

I have been clearing out the old growth on plants ready for the winter.

I have noticed that there are lots of ladybirds on my Japanese Anemones.

I am going to leave a few standing for them.

Also another thing I have noticed. I love the white varieties. I accidently purchased a Whirlwind three years ago. This has been the last one to flower and it is still continuing now.

(The garden centre was selling it with a label Honorine Jobert, but it is definitely Whirlwind. (Buds are more like cotton buds and it has shorter stems. Flowers are not quite as perfect as HJ.)

I have a rather difficult walled garden with raised beds and lots of slugs. The beds can get quite dry in summer. Japanese Anemones are my trusty favourite along with hardy geraniums like Rosanne.

Thanks for reading.

    That's good to know.
I like Japanese Anemones because they do flower right through to the end of the season. I have a little pot of one to plant but my last place they sort of took over the space so I'm cautious.
I'm keener now if the Ladybirds like them. May try for some root cuttings from peeps to plant in the wild run.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Yes twopenny, they do have a reputation for spreading.

But I find that as my raised beds are more of a restrictive space, I can thin then out quite well and remove any that spread too far outwards.
