Winter fuel payment letter tells me I qualify for 500 but 300 received

Thank you all. I have been thinking I already received £300 of the WFP as the letter is rather confusing to read. I can now turn my heating up a little and have a few more showers if I am getting a payment of £500 in the near future. They really ought to have clarified in the letter.

The letter doesn't know you are entitled to both! Others receiving it are not getting the COL payment so wouldn't be confused at all."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "1

Having re-read the info on Martin's website, it actually looks like we will only get the extra £200 on top of the £300 COL payment. This is so confusing.

Which information? Can you copy and paste the part that makes you think that?GSD5765 said:GSD5765 said:Thank you all. The Winter Fuel Payment includes a pensioner Cost of Living payment, to which all pensioner households are entitled by being pensioners. The WFP will come as one payment and be referenced accordingly on your bank statement.
The separate low-income £300 CoL payment is only for people claiming certain means-tested benefits, such as Pension Credit or Universal Credit.
The only confusion comes about because the low income CoL payment this time round is exactly £300. (The previous one was £301 and before that were £324 and £326.)0 -

(The previous one was £301 and before that were £324 and £326.)"UK pensioner households are entitled to help towards their energy costs under the Government's Winter Fuel Payment scheme. It's usually between £100 and £300 and is paid automatically to eligible pensioners or pensioner households.
In 2022, the cost of living support package included a top-up to the winter fuel payment of £300 per household, so some got up to £600. The Government has confirmed that pensioners will also get the extra £300 this winter.
Every household with someone born on or before 24 September 1957 is entitled to help towards their winter energy costs, and if you live with someone that also qualifies, you'll both get the cash (either individually or as a household). How much you get depends on your circumstances:

So it would normally be £200 for your situation, but because of the extra £300 cost of living payment for pensioners (continued from last year), it will be £500 overall this year.GSD5765 said:

The pensioner CoLP was easier to just administer in with the WFP because everyone eligible for one is eligible for the other. Didn't make sense to administer two separate payments to the same people within quick succession!
This is NOT the same as the low income CoLP, which is the £300 you've already received.2
