Car insurance after company incident

I drive a company delivery van and a horse reared into the side of the van as I was passing at slow speed. It’s been treated as the third-party being at fault for the minor damage. However I am unsure about my personal car insurance. Will it go against me? Do I have to tell them about it? It was in no way my fault.

Did your employer make a claim against the horse rider? Was he/she insured? Did they pay up?

It only happened this weekend so it hasn’t gone as far as that yet. From what I can find out, they may try and claim the costs back or just fix the vehicle damage and forget about claiming. The company insurance company has it logged with their details.

Most policies only want to know about accidents / claims at the point of renewal. You need to check that is the case for your personal policy.

Then when it comes to renewal time for your personal policy you will need to declare it with the status at that time as either a fault or non fault claim, or an unclaimed accident depending on what happens.

You will have to declare it as an accident as a minimum.
