Switching from Scottish Power...suggestions?

Very Bad experiences with Scottish Power and after reviewing here it seems like Octopus is one to switch to. I trialled signing up and got a quote for a monthly direct debit. Seems like Octopus will only allow me to sign up with DD. After my bad previous experiences wondering if they will do monthly debit?
I travel so my bills are extremely inconsistent.
:)

You can easily change your DD amount, online, with Octopus, as long as you are in credit.

There isn't a better supplier, IMO.

You can also ask to be switched to a Variable Direct Debit after you join. This means you’ll pay your bill in full each month. You’ll likely pay more in winter and less in summer but if you can budget for this then it’s a good option to consider.

When you drink in  happy hour, it’s usually cheaper, except in my local the landlord charges double in happy hour. How is that a happy hour I asked… well it makes me happy was his reply

It certainly doesn’t save money however one night, after a few beers, I was thinking about the debt I had. I put my first budgeting spreadsheet together and came up with a plan on how to repay the debt.

Ironically this involved less social activities and less beer… I guess not drinking beer saves money!
  • Another vote for Octopus it just works, they innovate and you feel like you are on a journey with them imo.

+1 thanks from me too to everyone who responded.

I’ve had a well timed fixed term with SP for the last 2.5 years ending next month, so good to hear the general vote for octopus along with the “pay the bill as is each month” rather than having my account pickpocketed :)

I guess I need to start thinking about it all right now (no early cancellation fee, it was fixed before the turmoil started)
