PIP Review

Hello, Is PIP still far behind in claims since the pandemic or something? I had a text a couple of months ago saying they are reviewing my claim (awarded until November) and then I got a letter saying they are giving me an extra year award while they review my claim.

I am awarded for Daily Living and on my review I have tried to explain difficulties with Sciatica plus a fractured back that nothing can be done because of how I fractured it and it makes my Sciatica worse.

Hopefully I get help with mobility as I suffer bad some days and need a taxi and sometimes I suffer Gout.

Hopefully will get a steroid injection on the 15th as got a Physio appointment, would it be a good idea to send my x-ray when they do it that day to PIP?

I'm on a bit of a loony ride in my head today peops so please be kind and hopefully everyone is enjoying their night watching fireworks and being on here at the same time

Oh and I also told them about needing people to watch me and help me cook sometimes (depending on my brain for the day) as I burn myself very easily like getting hot trays out the oven with my bare hands if I'm overthinking, so I'm now cooking in a NInja and right now I am cooking Pork that was supposed to be cooked from frozen and I have thawed it out and then put it in so just shows I'm not thinking straight today lol!

They've been struggling I think even before the pandemic but there has been an increase in new claims too which they've tried to focus on assessments for or those reporting changes.

I'm the same as you.. my award was expiring this month but had a year extension given. I'm not getting any of the texts probably because as usual they screwed up in my case sending a text to say they'd received the assessment report when it was an old one I sent in.

Not sure on the x-ray (to be honest I'm very tired and struggling to think very clearly myself).. but if it supports your claim I'd be inclined to at least raise it at assessment should you get one.

If the information in the xray report is relevant then send it. Are you also aware that using an oven isn't considered in the preparing a meal activity. Using a microwave is, as well as a hob.

Last time I spoke to someone who was doing reviews, about two months ago, they told me the current average wait time on reviews was sitting at about 40 weeks after they received your completed form back. They were prioritising the more or less no change ones through as quickly as possible to keep the queue down, but anything else will probably have around that wait time.

Ok thanks for that info guys and yes I couldn't remember what they asked me at the tribunal about the burns I do burn myself on the hob too basically I'm daft with most things if I'm angry or worried about something and everything goes wrong. I worry too much. I sent the forms back in around may time

If your previous award was set at tribunal (and if you have the tribunal decision notice), then I'd suggest copying it and taking it to the assessment as additional evidence.
It's worthwhile that the assessor knows the points the tribunal gave you. If your condition hasn't improved since the tribunal date make that known to the assessor.

  • i think they are very behind reading on here and other places

i put in for a change of circumstances and my PIP was running out next november 2024 i must have been lucky as mine took from sending off the change of circunstances form to getting my decision 13 weeks and also got the higher daily living and higher mobility and awarded for 6yrs and no interview it was paper based so am very happy with my experience with them

fingers crossed that your case gets seen  quicker than a long wait,i just wanted you and others to see that its not all bad and sometimes things move faster than expected i was also thinking a long wait was going to happen

    good luck
