How do the freelance websites compare? I am talking about people per hour, fiverr, freelancer.
I would be interested to knows peoples experience of actually securing work on these platforms. It may really depend on the work/industry I guess?!
Thank you

Compare to what?
If you're asking whether they are a viable source of work for freelancers, they can be. But it's very much the bottom feeder end of the market. So if you don't have any freelance experience and want to get your foot in the door, build a portfolio of work and get some experience, these sites can be useful. However, if it's your only source of income, it can be very tough and competitive to make enough money to survive. You're competing against people with lots of experience and many of the clients that post jobs/contact you will try and negotiate prices down as much as they can - so it's unlikely to make you a millionaire.
Might be different if you operate a very niche and high-demand service, but if you're in content, design, videography etc then I wouldn't suggest these sites as a main income-driver.0 -
Thanks. I meant compared against each other, is there one that is more useful. It would be to supplement a part time income so no financial dependence on finding the freelance work but it would be a bonus if so.0

Generally people want to go with people with feedback, even if you are playing the "we're in the UK" card, and so you'll find you'll get most work from the one you first get a few successful jobs through.
Depending on what you are doing there may be more specialist boards -v- the generalists.1 -
I think it largely depends on the work/service you provide, but be warned a lot of these sites are just a race to the bottom on price, and that’s before you take into account their commission fees.
Upwork is another one to consider, their commission fees are lower than the others (10% v 20%) but it charges in USD so can get a bit tricky.
All of these sites are free to register, so my advice is just register on them and see what happens. Some sites such as Fiverr you can only sit back and wait for people to contact with you, others you can bid for jobs (People per Hour).2 -
I heard from a friend that freelance platforms are a good way to earn some extra cash. Exploring opportunities on these platforms allows for flexible work arrangements, and incorporating tools like slack sms can enhance communication efficiency with clients and collaborators. It's an excellent avenue to tap into various projects while maintaining effective communication in the digital realm.
