New Kitchen stored in Relatives Garage which got flooded!

Help. We had a new kitchen delivered into a relatives garage to store for a few weeks. Their whole house including garage got flooded during storm Ciaran. Their house insurance doesn't cover it as it wasn't for their house, and it looks like ours won't cover it either. Any suggestions of how/if we can claim. There's a few thousands pounds worth of damage. Many thanks

Claim off whom? If both have confirmed its not covered, sadly its not covered.1

Check both your respective policy books for any relevant clauses that you believe would indicate that they would be covered by either policy and go back and challenge if you find such clauses. If you cannot then they are correct and you have an uninsured event.0

Still waiting to hear from our insurer as it's a very unusual claim, because it is a kitchen it normally comes under buildings insurance, not contents. But not sure whether we can claim through our credit card or is this only if it is faulty on arrival?0

Why would you be able to claim it through your credit card?1

I am guessing by "credit card" you are thinking S75 or similar? These cover where the merchant has breached the contract, not sure how you plan to blame the merchant for a flood?
Some credit cards, AmEx were the last one I know that still offers it, did offer a token "purchase protection" for the first X days after purchase but it has a rather modest limit, the Platinum card is £2,500 maximum0 -

Contact Your Insurer Again: Explain the circumstances in detail and see if they can make an exception or offer any advice.2. Home Contents Insurance: Check if either your or your relative’s home contents insurance might cover items temporarily stored in the garage.3. Credit Card Protection: If you purchased the kitchen with a credit card, there may be some protection or insurance coverage through the card provider.4. Manufacturer/Warranty: Contact the kitchen manufacturer to see if they offer any damage protection or warranty that might apply.5. Legal Advice: Consult a legal expert to explore if there are any other avenues for claiming the damage.Good luck!1
