Is it possible to get a diverter for my supply

OK it is tongue in cheek time, I often see statements from energy suppliers that say “We only supply electricity from renewable sources”** , so I want a diverter to bin any non renewable electrons from entering my abode.
How do they know my supply is only said renewable. Surely the ASA or the other chocolate teapot OFCOM should stop them from these false claims, who supplies the gas powered, biomass etc. non-renewable that often makes up over 50% of the leccy.

** I guess they mean we only buy, since they don’t really supply(just charge) that’s the grids job

  • EDF say ‘The zero-carbon electricity purchased is supplied to the National Grid. Customers receive electricity via the National Grid, not directly from zero-carbon generators.’

  • The simple solution is to go off-grid and generate all your own electricity from renewable sources.

Or install sufficient solar PV, which combined with a share in a windfarm, makes you a net exporter of green electricity.

Essentially, going off-grid but without the risk of having to sit in the dark, during the winter months. Well worth the cost of the daily charge.

That wouldn't stop the dirty smoky electrons from entering their property ;)

You could just look at the mix of how electricity is produced per day and cut your usage by the amount produced by polluting means.

That way you have done your bit.

I have solar panels, so am toying with the idea of getting an EV and charging it with the “dirty” electrons from the grid and upsetting the environment lobbyists 😎

  • But most EV owners charge from the grid and it's still considered "green" to own an EV.  Maybe this is electron laundering?
