I would be fairly dissatisfied to find any organisation I held multiple accounts with had selectively updated my personal information across those accounts. It doesn't even make much sense to store things like contact details at the account level.

They tried explaining it but it made zero sense to me still. That When I update my personal details it doesn't necessarily cover all my accounts (sounds a bit like nonsense to me).

Anyway, I had to phone them this week & get it sorted so that now my current address is linked to all my accounts.

Aside from the obvious - "because they make the rules".

So I've a S&S ISA with Vanguard & I'm looking at transferring this in to my cash ISA with Nationwide.
On their website it says to do this I have to go in branch ... the end. Not - go in branch or fill out this form & post it off but just go in branch & that's your only option.

This is a nuisance since no doubt you have to book an appointment & I get limited weekends available as it is.

I'm just chancing it here in case someone has done this & there is another way but if not then I just wondered why? Seems a bit behind the times, no?
I have nationwide flexible ISA and I transfer it in and out by myself all the time. I even transfer it to a non ISA account. Also I transfer it to other ISA account to other institutions,  I do not remember I ever need to visit a branch.
Like other people said, you might have a branch account that restrict the way how you operate the account.
Talk to them, and find an ISA account where you could operate it using online banking.

Well I did contact them & asked if there's any way it can be done without going in branch as I can't so easily get to a branch due to my hours/days of work.

They said no - the ONLY way to transfer in in this scenario is to go in branch.

So I've withdrawn the full amount from my Vanguard ISA & paid it in to my Nationwide ISA. It's not what I wanted to do but I'm not faffing around with this branch visiting for something that should be able to be done without visiting a branch.
